So I was surprised to see that cartoon airing because I thought there were rights issues there. I remember Paramount was a participant in the 1991 Addams cartoon, as it was produced when they had the rights due to their live action films. I thought Universal has Munsters, and MGM had Addams. I would hope that's a good portion of the market? DirecTV, Dish, TimeWarner, Cablevision, Verizon all carry the channel. I think more people get it than you think. Boomerang does need programming improvement, but I like it and I'd hate to see it disappear. Hopefully I'm wrong about the format change thing. I just can't help but wonder why the people in charge of Boom are spending money on a channel no ones gets. Boomerang has had some of their syndicated shows on the network before (the Dennis the Menace cartoon from 1986, Garfield and Friends, Underdog, and, last year, Rocky and Bullwinkle), and the rights have expired for them already, so I don't think the two shows will be on the network for too long. IIRC, Addams Family and Munsters are syndicated by television syndicator The Program Exchange. Scooby-Dooby-Doo! edited this topic ages ago. etc.)? I am crossing my fingers that the channel doesn't go the way that TV Land, MTV, VH-1, etc., did - so far away from it's original concepts that they no longer resemble the channels they were created to be. So, how do they have the money to buy the rights to air Addams/Munsters, but they do not pay to air animated series by HB that might be controlled by other companies (Globetrotters, Jeannie, partridge, etc. The channel has no budget to speak of because it's not advertiser supported. I think it's odd that they are airing the live action stuff too, and I agree it's probably just for the month. At this point, they're old enough to be remembered. If Cartoon Network dosen't want to air them, let Boom have them. Personally, I'd love to see more Cartoon Cartoons on the channel. I'd just like to see the channel air more of what they have in their vaults, old or not. I just hope that this dosen't signal the channel's death because I love watching it, and its gotten me into Hanna-Barbera. It is nice to see some stuff like the animated Addams Family and some of the Scooby shows that aren't on DVD, and I'll be tuning in, but I wish they'd air more of their own programming and not air something that not only dosen't fit the channel's format, but costs Turner as well. They have plenty of monster/scary-type shows in their vaults they could be airing or could license from other companies, including Warner Bros. If Boomerang wants to air Halloween programming, it needs to be animated. I'm sure both will be on for just a month, but still, it would make more sense to see them on another channel, like TBS, or on WGN (Munsters aired on Halloween on that channel last Halloween and Addams Family the year before). What's going to stop Boomerang now from airing other live action shows? I love both of these shows, and I'm glad to see them on TV, but they have NO business being on a channel dedicated to old Hanna-Barbera shows. I just got Boomerang a few months ago, and I've really been enjoying it, but I'm worried that the arrival of The Addams Family and Munsters is the beginning of the end of the channel. And yes, Pokemon and Ben 10 and Mister Men and all of these newer shows need to go! Hanna-Barbera has a ton of action series in the vaults. It bugs me WB bends the definition of what is shown on this "classic cartoon" network. I agree, there is no reason for The Munsters and Addams Family live action series to be on Boomerang. Okay, I am REALLY excited about Goober and the Ghostchasers, and I can't recall the animated Addams Family on TV forever. Weird.Īnd, when will they stop airing the craptastic Ben 10 and Pokemon? LOL! Also, they aren't owned by TimeWarner, so they are actually shelling out bucks to air the series, on a network that's not ad supported. Strangely, Boomerang has also added the live action series, "The Addams Family" and "The Munsters." I get that they are appropriate for Halloween, but they are live action. Most of it hasn't been seen in some time, some are new (to me). Finally, Boomerang has scheduled series not run ad nauseum for the month of October.
